MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE
TUSCARORA TOWNSHIP BOARD
APRIL 1, 2003

Meeting called to order at 7:00 pm by Supervisor Jacobson

Members present: Burdick, Hahn, Jacobson
Absent: Fisher, Waldron

17 citizens were present

Minutes of the last meeting were approved as published.

Motion by Trustee Burdick to adopt the agenda for this meeting. Seconded by Clerk Hahn. Motion carried with 3 yeas, 2 absent.

Police Report: Chief Wagner contacting MDOT about new stripping on M-68 and no parking signs on the same portion of highway from 27 to I-75. We are getting a speed limit sign coming for 1 week. It will let drivers know how fast they are driving.

Airport Report: The new manual shows that our airport had 1470 takeoffs and landing for 2002. We have 10 planes based out of our airport and 2 inquires about new hangers.

Treasurer Report: $826,259.22 as of March 20th.

No Planning or Parks report.

Supervisor Jacobson offered a resolution to the Cheboygan County Road Commission for the green dock area on Prospect Road. It would be for Prospect Road to the waters edge. Aprox. 380’.
MTA sent the township an inquiry about exchange day with another township. Clerk Hahn to fill out and return to them.

Clerk Hahn to send bid specs out for the curbside trash removal to the 4 companies that have made interest in bidding on it. The bids will be due back April 30 and opened at the May meeting. This is just the first phase to see what the costs will come in at and then the board can decide if want to take it to the special assessment district phase.

Have received a bid for spring clean up for Oakhill and Ohioville cemeteries. It is for $3000.00 (same price as last year) from Robert Linstrum. Motion by Trustee Burdick to accept the bid. Seconded by Clerk Hahn. Motion carried 3 yeas, 2 absent.

Chief Wagner explained Ordinance 24, Wheeled Devices. The board tabled the adoption of this ordinance until the May meeting.

John Hagen from Gourdie Fraser made a presentation to the board on possible federal funding for Phase I of a sewer system. The monies would come from State and Tribal Assistant Grant. The Township Board would need to make a resolution to Congressman Stupak and Senator Stabenow by April 15, 2003. The rest of the monies could come from the State Revolving fund at 2 ½% interest for 20 year payback.

The Board to hold a special meeting on April 7, 2003 at 7 pm to discuss the issue and possible resolution.

Audience comments: What were our attentions if the Road Commission gives us the Green Docks? None at this time.

Motion to pay the bills by Trustee Burdick, Seconded by Clerk Hahn and it carried 3 yeas, 2 absent.
