Minutes of the December 2003 meeting were approved as published.
Police Report: Written report and stats were given to the board members. Mr. Compton has given the Chief 3 boxes of gun safety locks. Five boxes have already been distributed. Anyone needing some can get them at the police department.
Airport Report: Nothing new to report. Ready to try out the new snowplow.
Treasurers Report: $1,358,459.17
Motion by Clerk Hahn to have Gourdie-Fraser start the proposed street improvement district. They will meet with the public on conceptual mapping of the project, do preliminary construction cost estimates, financial analysis of project costs, preliminary cost per unit for special assessment roll and make a presentation of findings to the board. Cost will be $2800.00. Seconded by Trustee Waldron and it carried.
Motion by Trustee Waldron to have the Clerk sign the final plat for Lake Marina Links Estate #7. Will include lots 90-118. Seconded by Trustee Burdick and it carried.
Burt Lake Preservation Association is asking the Board for a Resolution of support to go to Cheboygan County Zoning. After length discussion, the Board re-worded the Resolution and a motion was offered by Trustee Waldron to adopt it, seconded by Trustee Burdick and it carried.
Motion by Trustee Burdick to sign the Fire Department contract in the amount of $123,955.00 for the year of 2004. Seconded by Clerk Hahn. Carried with 4 yeas and
Waldron abstaining.
Supervisor Jacobson explained that the amount was calculated from the May 2003 valuation.
Motion by Trustee Waldron to accept Auditor Richard Mahlmeister’s bid for auditing the Township for 2004 and 2005. This will include the new GASB34 implementation. The cost for each year will be $5495.00. Seconded by Trustee Burdick and it carried.
Mr. Casucci talked to the Board about the costs of removing the phone poles and electric poles on his side of the street. To remove them from the Chamber to National City will cost approximately $120,000.00. He wanted to know about some financial support. He was asked to present this at the next DDA meeting. The purchase of the property behind the old Mobil Station was also discussed.
Motion by Trustee Waldron to grant the request from the Gaylord-Cheboygan Trail Work Group to allow a snowmobile trail to traverse the westerly most 15’ of the Airport Property. The trail will be utilized 4 month of the year and a fence will be erected to prevent snowmobile users from straying off the trail. Motion was seconded by Clerk Hahn and it carried.
Motion by Trustee Burdick to retain the Industrial Park Property east of the Lake Head Pipe Line. Seconded by Treasurer Fisher. Motion carried. This would possibly be used for a wastewater treatment facility. There has been some interest in purchasing the entire 67.76 acres.
Clerk Hahn to check with Gourdie-Fraser to see if the Hydro geological study will need to be redone if a treatment facility comes to pass or if the current one will remain good.

Trustee Waldron made a motion to pay the bills, seconded by Trustee Burdick and it carried.
