Members present: Burdick, Hahn, Jacobson, Fisher, Waldron
18 citizens were also present
Minutes of the July meeting were approved as published.
Motion to adopt the agenda by Trustee Waldron. Treasurer Fisher seconded the motion and it carried.
Police Report: Chief Wagner will stand on the monthly statically report.
Airport Report: Our annual state inspection went well. The counters were picked up, but the traffic count has not been received yet.
Treasurers Report: $672,240.88
Gourdie-Fraser made a presentation on road rehabilitation. Total projected cost of the project as presented would be $710,000.00. This included all of the current paved roads from Kens to the river and the highway to the lake. There was no cost estimate for the gravel roads to improve to asphalt. We want them to include those roads also. They would remove existing roads, repair and grade them as needed and put a crown in them for better drainage. If some ditching is required, it would be done also. They would reuse the ground up existing roads as a base and add to it where needed. The township would resurface them through a special assessment with a possible 5-year pay back. The approximate cost is $25.56 per linear foot.
Motion by Treasurer Fisher to send a letter of support for making US 27 a Historic Highway. Trustee Burdick seconded motion and it carried.
Motion by Trustee Burdick to grant the request made by Joy Fellowship Church to have a car wash on Aug 28th from 10am –5 pm in the parking lot next to the Chamber building. Seconded by Treasurer Fisher and it carried.
Motion by Trustee Burdick to accept the offer to purchase Lot 2 in the Commerce Park from Frank Giese. This is pending a decision by Bond Council on the terms of the land contract. Supervisor Jacobson to check with them. Clerk Hahn seconded the motion and it carried with a roll call vote. Burdick-yes, Hahn-yes, Jacobson-yes, Fisher- yes, Waldron-yes.
Mr. Casucci asked the board permission to tie into either the well at the building or the fountain well. He is attempting to open a donut and bagel shop and is having trouble with the permit from the Health Dept with the septic and drain fields on other properties being less than 75 feet from the well. He has approached the owners of Cabbages and Kings about putting one on their property and it is fine with them, but to close to a septic field. This will only be temporary until the land behind is acquired from the DNR. Clerk Hahn to check with the DNR to see how the application is coming and to see if a lease was enacted, could a well be put there. Supervisor Jacobson to meet with Mr. Casucci and the health department to see if it could not go on the vacant property that Cabbages have on the other side of the railroad grade.
Audience Comments: Why do street work before sewers? We have waited to do road repair for 25 years waiting for sewers to come. If the special assessment district goes through, not much of the new roads would be disturbed when and if sewers do go in.
STAG grant update: It did not pass in the house side, but still needs to go through the Senate side. Our Senators and very much in favor of the project and letters of interest sent to them would be helpful.
Motion to pay the bills was offered by Trustee Waldron with Treasurer Fisher seconding it and it carried.
Motion to adjourn at 8:25pm by Trustee Waldron.
Respectfully submitted by Clerk Diane M. Hahn
