MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE
TUSCARORA TOWNSHIP BOARD
JUNE 7, 2005

Meeting called to order at 7:00 pm by Supervisor Jacobson

Members present: Rohr, Jacobson, Fisher, Waldron
Absent: Hahn

28 citizens were in attendance

Minutes of the May meeting were approved as published.

Motion by Trustee Waldron to adopt the agenda with the addition of the sewer petitions. Seconded by Trustee Rohr and it carried 4 yeas, 1 absent.

Police report: Will stand on the monthly stats.

Airport report: Nothing new to report.

Treasurer report: $751,491.00

Motion by Trustee Waldron to grant the request presented by SEE-North to be allowed to dock a rental pontoon boat on the Indian River side of the DeVoe Beach property throughout the day on Tuesday June 14th. It will be docked for loading and unloading of passengers for trips to see the lake in the Remotely Operated underwater Vehicle. Seconded by Trustee Rohr and it carried 4 yeas, 1 absent.

Cass Cauchi made an offer to purchase Lot 4 in the Industrial Park. This was tabled until the July meeting.

After much discussion, a motion was made by Treasurer Fisher to authorize the predevelopment grant with Rural Development to do a feasibly study for a sewer project from the Indian River, to Barbara Street and down to the Commerce Park. It would be Main Street only. The motion was supported by Trustee Rohr and it carried with a roll call vote. Rohr, yes, Jacobson, yes, Fisher, yes, Waldron, yes and Hahn absent.

Burt Lake Preservation presented $1000.00 towards the matching funds. Also the Chamber presented $1000.00 and DDA has pledged $1750.00. That is the total needed for the matching funds. There were 147.30 acres in the project and 107.18 pledged support for the study.

Audience comments:

  1. The engineering company has started doing the soil boring on the roads.
  2. Dismayed about no support for sewers and grateful for the roads getting paved.
  3. What is happening to the Pulte property? No one knows.
  4. Junk car issue. What exactly does our ordinance say? The 30 days will expire tomorrow and what will be done. Chief Wagner has the approval from the attorney to have a tow truck remove them if not removed.
  5. Burt Lake Preservation presented the township with a check for $1000.00 towards the trash day on June 25.

There are no bills to pay at this time and we will do them at the budget hearing.
