The grant is from the Michigan Department of Transportation-Aeronautic Division. $70,000.00 has been earmarked for the project. 90% will be funded by the State and 10% local match. Motion by Clerk Hahn to approve the 10% local match from unallocated. The township had approx. $50,000.00 left from the 2004-2005 budget and the airport is self-funded through hanger leases. After much discussion on the offer to purchase Lot 4 in the Commerce Park, Cas Casscuchi withdrew the offer.
Supervisor Jacobson read part of House Bill NO.4576. This bill was sponsored by Rep. John Stakoe (Highland Twp). If the bill passes – Mooring or docking an unoccupied vessel at any time between midnight and sunrise on bottomland directly offshore from the public road.
There was length discussion on the Green Dock Area. Many issues have arisen this summer with parked cars in no parking zones, which have been given tickets. Two individuals have built a swim platform with a ladder and have been asked by the police to remove it, and it has not been done. Kids have been biking from the side road across Chippewa Beach, hitting a ramp and landing in the middle of the river. Clerk Hahn feels this is a huge liability issue and wants it removed. Trustee Waldron wants Clerk Hahn to contact the insurance company to see about the liability issue, should a sign be posted, or should it be removed. Treasurer Fisher thinks the individuals should have asked permission before it was put up, or now and Supervisor Jacobson wants another step added to it. Trustee Rohr had no comment.
The County Enforcement Officer has requested a resolution from the Township Board to rename Indian Woods Trail to East Indian Woods Trail and West Indian Woods Trail. Motion by Trustee Waldron to make the change, seconded by Clerk Hahn and it carried.
Cheboygan County is looking for interested people to sit on a committee to develop a county recreation plan. Supervisor Jacobson to pass the information on to the Parks Commission to see if any one is interested.
Audience Comments:
Address problem on South Avenue. Supervisor Jacobson to talk to the address officer to look into it. Treasurer Fisher and Clerk Hahn have had conversations with him on the issue in the past. Also could stop signs be placed on South Avenue when the street paving is completed to slow down traffic.
Clerk Hahn asked for feedback on the fireworks being on Saturday the 2nd instead of the 4th and all comments were positive.
Motion to pay the bills by Treasurer Fisher, seconded by Trustee Waldron and it carried.
Motion to adjourn by Trustee Waldron at 7:50 pm.
Respectfully submitted by Clerk Diane Hahn
