Meeting called to order at 7:00 pm by Supervisor Jacobson

Minutes of the July meeting were approved as published.
Motion by Trustee Waldron to adopt the agenda as presented. Seconded by Treasurer Fisher and it carried.
Police Report: It has been a busy summer and we have his statistical report.
Airport Report: Today the bid package was signed for the repair work on the runway. The bids will be opened on August 18, 2005 at 11:00 am. Another new hanger was started today.
Treasurers Report: $814,660.39 with interest
Planning Report: We had a meeting scheduled last night to review a SUP for a day care at Transfiguration Church. Only Diane and Craig showed up, so no decision could be made. They are already operating the day care; they are looking to put up a building for it.
There was discussion about the date for next year’s fireworks. Also discussion about if the Township will continue to do them. Clerk Hahn mentioned that in Alpena, Petoskey, Boyne City and Mackinaw that the Chambers put them on. The City of Cheboygan does them for that community. Fund raising is getting harder and harder since the Township has been doing it. The money is coming out of the General Fund to make up the difference. In years past the Fire Department did them, then the Chamber took them over, then the Jaycee’s and they dropped them on Clerk Hahn’s desk in 1999. Our local Jaycee chapter dissolved. Trustee Rohr feels the Board should get out of the firework business. Trustee Waldron feels it is a Chamber function. Treasurer Fisher is undecided, but feels it could be a joint effort. Clerk Hahn feels it should be a Chamber function and Supervisor Jacobson made no comment. Clerk Hahn to send a letter to the Chamber about our concerns and it will be discussed at the September meeting.
Dick Binder gave the board petitions of over 100 signatures to repair the Green Docks. Clerk Hahn has talked to the DEQ about what type of plans we would need to submit for a permit. The survey we have from 2002 would be fine. They mentioned that we could do it in phases. Motion by Clerk Hahn to send a letter to Mr. Binder to see how many dollars he can raise and the Township would match funds to start the repair process. Clerk Hahn to fill out the application for the permit and get it submitted. Trustee Waldron suggested putting in a dry hydrant at the same time for the fire department.
Motion by Treasurer Fisher to reappoint Chief Wagner and Clerk Hahn as delegates to MERS. Seconded by Trustee Waldron and it carried.
John Wilcox gave an overview for the need for a weather service transmitter in Charlevoix, Cheboygan and Emmet Counties. He will bring a resolution for the Board to sign to the September meeting.
