MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE
TUSCARORA TOWNSHIP BOARD
APRIL 4, 2006

Meeting called to order at 7:00 pm by Supervisor Jacobson

Members Present: Rohr, Hahn, Jacobson, Fisher, Waldron

65 citizens were in attendance

Minutes of the March meeting were approved as published.

Motion by Trustee Waldron to adopt the agenda as presented. Treasurer Fisher seconded the motion and it carried.

Police Report: Standing on the statistical report. Wants to warn the citizens about internet fraud. Be very careful sending merchandise and money over seas.

Airport Report: None available.

Treasurers Report: $933,057.51 without interest

Motion by Clerk Hahn to amend our Investment Resolution to add First Federal of Northern Michigan. Seconded by Trustee Rohr and it carried.

Motion by Trustee Waldron to authorize the spring clean up at our two cemeteries to Landmark Services for $4500.00 (they were the only bid). Work to be done by May 20, 2006. Treasurer Fisher seconded motion and it carried.

Motion by Trustee Waldron to allow the Supervisor, Clerk and/or Treasurer to sign the lease agreement with PIE&G. Also to add that they will have to stay off of the runway and leave the airport in the condition it is currently in. Seconded by Clerk Hahn and it carried.

Two auditor bids were received. One from the current auditor Richard Mahlmeister for $7300.00 and one from Elliott & Sangster for $6700.00. Clerk Hahn made a motion to have Richard Mahlmeister do the audit for the 2006-year end. Seconded by Trustee Rohr and it carried.

Motion by Treasurer Fisher to grant the request from the Chamber of Commerce to use township properties for Summer Fest excluding the use of the restrooms in township hall. Trustee Rohr seconded the motion and it carried.

A motion was made by Treasurer Fisher to grant the request from the Chamber to use the Village Green for an Indian River Growers Market every Saturday from June 24, 2006 until October 28, 2006 from 9am until 1 pm. The Chamber will be responsible for proper signage requirements and clean up after the growers leave at 1 pm. Trustee Waldron seconded the motion and it carried. Possible participants could be 29.

Due to the school election being on May 2, the board meeting will have to be changed. The May board meeting will be May 9, 2006 at 7:00 pm.

Motion to pay the bills by Trustee Waldron, seconded by Trustee Rohr and it carried.

At 7:20 pm the public hearing to create the special assessment started. Supervisor Jacobson introduced Brian Boals and Dave Irish from Gourdie-Fraser, Luke Holton and Mike Donavan from Cheboygan County Road Commission and John Wallace our County Commissioner. An overview of the project was given and audience questions were answered. The Board did not confirm the assessment roll. We used this meeting as informational. The engineers will get cost reductions in tree removal and rework the roads that do not require ditches. We will have the confirmation meeting in the near future.
