MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE
TUSCARORA TOWNSHIP BOARD
MAY 9, 2006

Meeting called to order at 7:00 pm by Supervisor Jacobson.

Members Present: Rohr, Hahn, Jacobson, Fisher, Waldron

36 citizens were in attendance

Minutes of the April meeting were approved as published.

Motion by Trustee Waldron to adopt the agenda as presented. Seconded by Trustee Rohr and it carried.

Police Report: Nothing unusual this past month. Gearing up for the 4th of July and other summer activities. The activities of the dog have been down.

Airport Report: We had our annual inspection last week. Only have two little things to take care of.

Treasurers Report: $831,707.06 with interest. Supervisor Jacobson explained that these funds are all Township funds- General, Police, Debt and Special Assessment.

At the February meeting a request was made to the board for a millage request to be voted on by the electors of the township. This would be for matching funds and/or improvements to township projects. A committee was formed and they have presented us with the following language for the August ballot.

Shall the limitation on the amount of taxes which may be imposed on taxable property in the Township of Tuscarora, County of Cheboygan, Michigan, be increased by One Dollar and Twenty-five Cents ($1.25) per thousand dollars ($1,000) (1.25 mills) of the taxable value for a period of three (3) years, 2006 to 2008, inclusive, as new additional millage to provide funds for the purpose of acquiring, improving, maintaining, and supporting public parks and places of recreation in the Township? It is estimated that 1.25 mills would raise approximately $206,000 when first levied in 2006.

The projects it would help are the matching funds for the launch ramps at Marina Park, matching funds for Green Docks, removal of River Street bridge, repair/replace the public docking under the bridge (if needs doing after the new bridge is in place in spring of 2007) and project maintenance. Clerk Hahn offered the resolution, seconded by Trustee Rohr and a roll call vote was taken. Rohr, yes, Hahn, yes, Jacobson, yes, Fisher, yes, Waldron, yes. Clerk Hahn to forward the ballot language to the County Clerk for the August 8 ballot.

Clerk Hahn needs two budget adjustments. From legal 101-210-801-00 to township repair and maintenance for $1000.00 and from unallocated to 101-101-801-00 professional for the legal fees on the road project and engineering for the green docks in the amount of $15000.00. A motion was made by Trustee Waldron, Seconded by Treasurer Fisher and it carried to make these adjustments.

An update was given on the road project. The next public hearing will be May 24, 2006 at 7:00 pm to confirm the assessment roll.

A letter was read into the minutes from Arthur Sullivan. He congratulated the board for doing something that has needed doing for a long time, the roads.

Motion to pay the bills by Trustee Waldron, seconded by Trustee Rohr and it carried.

Motion to adjourn at 8:12 pm by Trustee Waldron.

Respectfully submitted by Clerk Diane M. Hahn
