Treasurer Fisher has been doing research on doing away with the spring clean up day and using a voucher system throughout the year to Emmit County Transfer Station. If we issued a 1-yard voucher it would cost $19.00 per voucher. The taxpayers could stop and get a voucher and use the facility when necessary instead of one day a year. It would appear that more residences would use the transfer station. Emmit County would bill the township monthly. Motion by Trustee Waldron to issue a $19.00 voucher to each household in the Township. Seconded by Trustee Rohr and it carried. Clerk Hahn to see if BLPA will still donate the $1000.00 towards the clean up.
At the EDA the topic of zoning was brought up. They would like to see a committee formed of DDA, Township Board and Planning members. Two from each group. Trustee Waldron explained how the county has been using our planning commissions recommendations and did not see the necessity for this committee. If zoning is to be looked at, shouldn’t the planning commission do it? After lengthy discussion Treasurer Fisher will go back to the EDA and ask them for what they would like to see different than the county offers. Also the County has the enforcement and legal council to take care of it now and if the Township passed ordinances for zoning we would need to incur costs for the enforcement and legal representation of it.
PIE&G would like to run gas to the hangers at the airport. Motion by Trustee Waldron to grant the request after a letter is obtained by MichCon saying they are not interested in the lines. Seconded by Clerk Hahn and it carried.
