MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE
TUSCARORA TOWNSHIP BOARD
MARCH 4, 2008

Meeting called to order at 7:00 pm by Supervisor Jacobson.

Members Present: Jacobson, Fisher, Waldron

Members Absent: Rohr

Citizens Present: 19

Minutes of the February meeting were approved with the addition of the motion by Trustee Waldron and support by Trustee Rohr to amend the Banking Resolution by adding 5/3 Bank, Hunting Bank, and First Community bank which. Trustee Waldron made the motion to amend the February meeting minutes. Clerk Fisher seconded the motion. The motion carried with 3 yeas.

Motion to adopt the agenda with the addition of a discussion on the Planning Commission by Trustee Waldron, supported by Clerk Fisher and it carried with 3 yeas.

Police Report: Standing on stats and very busy with the snowmobile trails. Chief Wagner reported that he is looking into a program called Leeds that would make drug-testing kits available to parents to test their children in the privacy of their own home.

Airport Report: Nothing new to report.

Trustee Waldron made a motion to accept the resignation of Susan Fisher, Tuscarora Township Treasurer. Clerk Fisher seconded the motion and it carried.

Supervisor Jacobson reported on the appointment of Susan Fisher as interim Clerk to fill the vacancy left by the resignation of Diane Hahn. The Board will be accepting applications until Monday, March 10th, and will hold a Special Meeting March 12th to appoint the interim Treasurer.

Motion by Trustee Waldron to sign the Resolution Authorizing Application for Grant Funding for the Development of the Indian River Pathway System. The motion was supported by Clerk Fisher and carried with three yeas.

Motion by Clerk Fisher and supported by Trustee Waldron to sign the Resolution of Support for the Veterans Pier Project to apply for grant monies. Dave Driscoll reported that the Parks Commission would not accept the Grant if the matching funds requirement is not met. Motion carried.

Trustee Waldron reminded the board that the Tuscarora Township Master Plan will expire in 2010 and that it will take approximately one year to put a new one together. Discussion was held on the current status of our Planning Commission Board and Clerk Fisher will research the terms of current members of the Board and determine who is interested on remaining on the Planning Commission Board. Trustee Waldron will continue to serve as the board representative; however, the Planning Commission needs to have their own Chairman.

Audience Comments:
Scott Ingersol announced his candidacy for Cheboygan County Prosecuting Attorney.

Supervisor Jacobson reported that he had not received a response to his request to have a presentation to the Board on the proposed broadband service that had previously been presented to Mackinaw Township.

Trustee Waldron asked if we could facilitate the issuing of the recycling permits here at the township office for Tuscarora Township residents. Clerk Fisher will contact Linda Cronan, Cheboygan County Treasurer, to determine if is possible for us to assist in issuing the permits.
