Meeting called to order at 7:00 pm by Supervisor Jacobson.

Minutes of the June meeting were approved as published.
Motion by Trustee Waldron to adopt the agenda with the deletion of #10 DDA Appointments and the additions of #14 Mike Overton and Dan O’Henley to discuss Recycling and #15 Chamber Request, seconded by Trustee Rohr and it carried with 5 yeas.
Police Report: Had to close down Green Docks the previous night at 8:00 due to the patrons setting the trash cans on fire.
Airport Report: Getting ready for Summerfest events. Activities should be posted in paper. Norm does not believe the aerobatic show will take place.
Treasurers Report: $790,848.85 in regular accounts, $1,746.95 in tax accounts all without interest. Tax bills have been mailed.
Trustee Waldron made a motion to appoint Bill Jones, David Barton, Mike Vizina, Mike Cheverny, Loyal Woods, Kelly Ashford and Craig Waldron to the Planning Commission, with Clerk Fisher randomly appointing members to the staggered terms. The motion was supported by Treasurer Balazovic and it carried.
Jane McGinnis played “Exit 310”, a song and video produced by the McGinnis’s featuring the Indian River and Tuscarora Township. Clerk Fisher made the motion to adopt “Exit 310” as Tuscarora Township’s official song the motion was supported by Trustee Rohr and carried with 5 yeas.
Motion by Trustee Waldron to send a deposit of $700 (2% of total cost) for a contract with the Cheboygan County Road Commission to repair the road by the Green Docks and install a parking lot. Supported by Trustee Rohr and passed with 5 yeas.
Mike Overton and Dan O’Henley, gave an update of the recycling program and answered questions. The program is currently over budget on wages and under budget on cost of hauling. The first hazardous waste cleanup went well and there are plans to hold another in the sometime this fall. They will post the date on their website. At last count, three percent of households in non-participating townships have purchased permits.
Motion by Trustee Waldron and supported by Trustee Rohr to approve the Chamber’s request to use DeVoe Public Beach and the Village Green from 1:00 pm – 6:00 pm for a Biathlon on July 19, 2008. Motion passed.
Bill Fisher from the Tuscarora Township Manager Committee presented a power point presentation on the committee’s findings. The final recommendation and the full report will be posted on the Township’s website and in the Library. Supervisor Jacobson recommended holding a public hearing to obtain the opinions and questions of the community. Trustee Waldron thanked the Committee for the time and effort that they put into this study.
Clerk Fisher thanked the Freismuths, Herpels and the Fishers for all the work they have put into restoring and painting of the benches around town.
Motion to pay the bills by Trustee Waldron, seconded by Trustee Rohr and it carried 5 yeas.
